H-Mart Port Coquitlam

New H-Mart Port Coquitlam is located at the north of Pitt River on Lougheed Highway. The first store has been in business since 2003, in Metro Vancouver area, and following on its 14 successful years of grocery retail business with 4 other stores. The new store is seeking opportunities to expand its business as well as possible updates to its store branding. This project is intended as an incubator project to establish a design branding standard for the future store planning.
JYA aimed to create a grocery retail space that would provide welcoming warm feeling and still excitement. The limited selection of authentic materials, such as solid wood and tile rather than composite or painted materials, provides a distinctive spatial definition and warm environment.
The design captures a contemporary balance, combining natural with modern. Each grocery sections are coordinated with bulkhead ceiling with natural toned subtle graphic work by PauseStudio.
